Shiny surface of Bucura Lake from hiking trail

The lake is situated at an altitude of 2040 meters. It is 15,5 meters deep and 550 meters long, which makes it the largest glacial lake in Romania. It's the perfect place if you love nature, and even if it's not so easy to reach, you'll be rewarded with amazing views.

Bucura Lake is a great starting point for hiking. From here you can climb Peleaga Peak (2509 meters) – the highest in the Retezat Mountains, Bucura Peak and also reach other smaller lakes.
