The Eiffel Tower was initially built as a symbol for the Universal Exhibition of 1989, a date that marked a century since the French Revolution. But in time it became a symbol of the city itself. Of the 700 proposals submitted in a design competition, Gustave Eiffel's was unanimously chosen. Who knows what masterpiece we would have admired today, if things were different back then?
Contested at first, and considered useless, now it is the world's most visited entrance-paying monument. This massive construction weights 10.100 tones and is 312 meters high. The tower offers its visitors breathtaking views of Paris, a delight for the eyes. Inside the tower, a range of restaurant will serve the different needs and tastes of visitors, from a simple snack to delicious gourmet cooking.
