With its 12 passing tracks Lambrate is one of the main railway stations around Milano. Regional trains stop there about every 2 or 3 minutes in daytime. Even a few selected long-distance connections are based there, but Trenitalia choose not to equip Lambrate to host Frecciarossa high-speed trains, which stop in Garibaldi and Rogoredo and only cross Lambrate. This station was restyled in recent years (the long awaited displays were eventually installed in 2008!), but retains part of its early-XXth-century charm. Although the main entrance is on the P. Monte Titano side, the P. Bottini "back" side is nicer and far more lively, with regular markets, food etc.I disliked
Most, if not all water fountains have been closed. The extremely expensive vending machines do not compensate the loss. The central passageway has up-down stairs which travelers could easily live without.
