For a fair bit of the Ibizan travel market hotels don’t seem to matter very much — those who don’t sleep don’t ask much from their accommodations. But Ibiza’s not just for the club kids, and there’s another, more demanding breed of traveler who needs more than just a shower and a place to store some luggage. Barely ten miles east of Ibiza town is the harbor town of Santa Eulalia del Rio, and the Aguas de Ibiza hotel and spa.
The location, right on the marina, means many of the hundred-odd rooms and suites have views of the bay — and all of them come with private terraces. Inside they’re welcoming, in warm tones, with canopy beds and a full complement of electronics, including Bang & Olufsen televisions. And the hotel’s Cloud 9 is something of a club level or a VIP floor, with suites equipped with parquet floors and Jacuzzis.
Rather than relentless nightlife, Aguas de Ibiza is devoted to a certain amount of relaxation. There’s a hydrotherapy-themed spa, as well as two outdoor pools, and a very mellow rooftop bar — along with a more traditional cocktail bar and two restaurants, one serving tapas and the other upscale Ibizan cuisine.
