The today hotels, were once houses, and have been restaured without damaging their historic structure. But not all of the caves have been transformed in hotels, some are now nightclubs and bars, for entertaining the tourists.

In the center of the city there are shops, a historic Turkish bath, and the Temenni Hill, a high rock ledge looming above the very center of town, with a saint's tomb at its edge. An interesting thing to do while in Ürgüp is a hot-air balloon flight. The company who organizes these flights will pick you up from your hotel, and take you to the launch site.
