Itinerary

Day 1: Guatemala City - Antigua Arrival at the La Aurora International airport in Guatemala City, where a shuttle will be waiting to pick you up and transfer you to your hotel in Antigua Guatemala.

Day 2:

Antigua – Coban – Semuc Champey - Lanquin We will visit now the most beautiful natural surroundings of Guatemala, around the city of Coban. Meet Guatemalan hidden jewel, this incredible area is a mixture of exotic green and sky coloured pools, an ideal place for swimming and relaxation. The tour starts with a visit to Semuc Champey, famed for its great natural limestone bridge (300 m long) through this bit of paradise, the beauty of its setting and the perfection of the pools, ranging from turquoise to emerald-green, make it worth it. Then the tour continues with a visit to the caves of Lanquin. Aside from funky stalactites mostly named for animals, these caves are crammed with bats; at sunset, they fly out of the mouth of the cave in formations so dense they obscure the sky. We will also visit the beautiful waterfalls of Lanquin surrounded by a natural cloud forest.

Day 3:

Candelaria Candelaria Caves is the main place of today’s tour. Located inside National Park of Candelaria Caves, the community of Candelaria Camposant offers the visit of two of the most impressive dry caves and an exciting water trip, floating on tubes in a subterraneous section of the Candelaria River. This cave system has great cultural and natural significance since it was a main pilgrimage site for the ancient Maya civilization and it shelters diverse flora and fauna. For the archaeology buff there are more than 20 archaeological sites surrounding the cave system and a great amount of Maya pottery, which shows its relevance in ancient times.

Day 4:

Candelaria – Livingston –Rio Dulce Boat transfer to Livingston, a unique Garifuna town. We will start at 7:00 am. Next, we will continue our boat tour through the Rio Dulce Canyon, Río Tatín, Biotope Chocón Machacas and San Felipe castle.

Day 5:

Rio Dulce – Quirigua – Guatemala City - Flores We continue today back towards Guatemala City. On route we will visit one of the human heritage monuments, Quirigua, incredible ancient site excavated by archaeologists. At the end of the day, we transfer to Flores.

Day 6:

Flores - Yaxhá We take our private bus on route towards the archaeological site of Yaxhá. Yaxhá was the third most important city of the Mayan World in the late classic period. Enjoy exploring the pyramids and the restored structures through the jungle paths and the shores of Lake Yaxhá.

Day 7:

Flores - Tikal We will take our private bus towards the archaeological site of Tikal. You will enjoy exploring the many pyramids, steles, temples and buildings of the most important Mayan city yet discovered and partially restored. Additionally through the jungle paths you will be able to see birds, plants and the famous howler and spider monkeys. Afterwards you will enjoy a delicious lunch in the restaurant in the middle of the jungle. We finish this day with afternoon transfer to the airport for flight to Guatemala City, where the shuttle will be waiting to take you to your hotel.

Day 8:

Transfer out of Guatemala City Airport, departure.
