This package is the perfect combination for historians and Sound of Music fans. On these tours you will see the picturesque city of Salzburg, the majestic Bavarian Alps and the lovely Lakes and Mountains region as you learn the history of Salzburg and how a small part of its story became one of the most beloved films of all times.
Relive with us the true story of the von Trapp family which was filmed as the Sound of Music in and around Salzburg. The tour, which has been Salzburg's most popular tour since 1967, is a combination of both this historical city and the breathtaking Salzkammergut - Lakes and Mountains area, also a famous musical and cultural centre. We show you many film locations from the Sound of Music and also other local pieces of history and culture along the way!
Pass over the boarder into Germany we drive up to the former village of Obersalzberg. Once used as a base for the Third Reich, Hitler, Göring and Bormann had property here. Board a special bus for a breathtaking journey up the 4 mile road to the Eagle's Nest. Upon arrival we take an elevator 406 ft. through the mountain and directly into the Eagle's Nest. Originally given to Hitler by Martin Bormann as a 50th birthday present, the Eagle's Nest was primarily used as a conference centre. The building itself is a masterpiece perched 6017 ft. atop Mt Kehlstein. There is free time to explore the old conference room, dining area, small tea room and terraces and your guide explains all the history relating to this interesting area.
