Highlights / General details

Visit a modern city that once was known as the Great Nitrate Port. Iquique today is a thriving commercial city that preserves evidence of its history in much of its American Georgian style buildings from the turn of the century. This, combined with its commerce, climate and beautiful beaches, makes Iquique an ideal destination. The tour begins with the visit of the Cavancha Peninsula, of the most popular sector, which hosts the best beach in the city. We will also stop at Playa Brava and Primeras Piedras, famous beach resorts in the area. The tour continues with a visit to the historical centre, with the Balmaceda and Baquedano Avenues, the Astoreca Palace, the regional Museum, Plaza Prat, the Municipal Theatre and the Spanish Cultural Centre. Then we will stop at the wharf where the remains of Arturo Prat (Chilean naval hero) were brought ashore and the Naval Museum, with the old Customs Building. Finally we will visit the industrial part of Iquique and the monument to the Marinero Desconocido.
