The Great Hall is England’s greatest medieval hall and one of Britain’s oldest theatres. William Shakespeare’s company performed there in 1603-4. Meet the 'pin-up' prince, before he became fat old Henry VIII, at our Young Henry VIII exhibition (included in your admission ticket). The exhibition includes paintings and interactive displays. Join King Henry VIII as he prepares to get married for the sixth time at Hampton Court Palace. How much do you really know about the spooky palace past? Collect our ghost family trail from the Information Centre and start investigating. This beautiful chapel has been in continuous use for over 450 years. Visitors are welcome to attend religious services at The Chapel Royal on Sundays. We have a wide range of activities and tours to entertain families. Choose from family trails, our world-famous maze, costumed guided tours, live Tudor cookery and much much more.

Henry's Crown - Arrives late October 2012 Later in 2012 Henry's VIII's fabulous state apartments at Hampton Court Palace will be topped off with an Impressive finale focusing on Henry VIII's legacy and the Tudor dynasty that succeeded him. The highlight will be the newly re-created crown of Henry VIII in the Royal Pew. Henry's richly decorated imperial crown was a powerful object worn by the King but also used to crown his children as the succeeded him and his successors down to Charles I. The crown is based on detailed research into inventories of Henry's possessions which tell us in detail how it was constructed and how and where the stones were placed in it. Sadly the real crown no longer exists as it was destroyed by Cromwell's government. However, the excellent Tudor records and contemporary images have enabled us to create a very accurate replica. The crown jeweller and his master craftsmen will re-create this spectacular Tudor object in silver-gilt with semi precious or artificial stones, ensuring that it looks as spectacular and authentic as possible.
