Biosphere World Reservation, it’s the world’s highest not navigable lake located at 4.500 meters over the sea level. It counts with a great variety of Andean birds and “auquénidos”, animals such as llamas, alpacas, vicuñas and guanacos. We begin our tour with a visit to El Valle de Lluta where you can observe hieroglyphics of ancient cultures of the Andes. The tour continues along the Quebrada de Cardones, where you will observe local flora such as “cactus candelabro”, candlestick shaped cacti. Then we’ll visit Pukara de Copaquilla located just a few minutes from the town of Putre, where we will stop for a little break. Arriving to the 4.000 meters over the sea level, we’ll pass by the sector of Las Cuevas to admire its beautiful “bofedales” (wetlands) and its great variety of fauna, such as viscachas and vicuñas. At about 13:00 we’ll arrive at Chungara Lake, where visitors will be given free time to explore the area. On our way back, we’ll stop at the Coatacotani Lagoon and then we’ll visit the village of Parinacota. Here we will find a great variety of handicrafts made by the locals. During the afternoon we’ll pass by the village of Putre for lunch and then we will head back to Arica.
