Itinerary Learn about the market’s history as you explore rows of local produce, colorful fabrics, flower vendors, shaman stalls, and loud juice makers in the company of an English speaking guide. There is the opportunity to try out a few local words and purchase snacks for later in the day. Be ready for some entertaining local interaction! Leave the unforgettable smells and flavors of the Cusco market behind as we depart by private transportation to explore the Inca ruins just outside of Cusco. First on our Cusco ruins trail is Q’enqo, which was once a major Inca ceremonial and ritual site. Explore Q’enqo, then head out for a short, 15 minute scenic walk to the statue of Cristo Blanco (White Christ), where we’ll stop for our delicious picnic of Peruvian snacks and enjoy the beautiful panoramic views of Cusco’s cityscape. Next, we'll explore the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman. At an altitude of 3,700m and just 3km from Cusco, the fortress boasts walls up to 400m long, made out of boulders weighing from 128 - 200 tonnes. Every year the Inty Raymi (celebration of the sun) is celebrated on these ruins overlooking the city of Cusco. To finish the tour, we’ll walk back to Cusco, which will take us about half an hour. We’ll descend back to the city via Inca streets, learning about theories and legends of the Inca Empire along the way. We’ll meander through the bohemian area of San Blas before finding ourselves back at Plaza de Armas, Cusco’s main square, where your tour will come to a close.

Participant restrictions

Additional Information Latin Americans can be very conscious of appearance so try to be casual but conservative in your dress. Outside of beach areas halter tops and very short shorts should not be worn.
