Highlights / General details

Sailing out of the port we will cross the amazing La Plata River in order to reach the coast of Montevideo, the Capital of Uruguay. Its name was given by a sailor of the Magallanes fleet, who exclaimed Montevideo while passing there in 1520. Geopolitical enclave of privilege of South America, it is considered the second safest capital in the world and chosen as the future administrative headquarters of the MERCOSUR. Montevideo is assuredly an ideal point to do business and of course, a tourist option. We can find there the mid XX century cafés and the big rambling houses with huge patios of Hispanic inspiration. The 18 de Julio Ave., which is the most important avenue in Montevideo, is where the tourist, who is looking for good gastronomic offers, hotels and travel agencies, should go. Montevideo also offers La Ramble and its beaches to go walking or riding a bike. The Cabildo, the Cathedral, the Plaza Matriz, and the Port Market – architectural memories of an exquisite past – and the curios of the “Tristán Narvaja! Flea Market, are altogether in galleries, art centers, shopping centers and in high level antique shops.
