Camden Lock

General

Attracting 500,000 visitors every week, this is the largest street market in the United Kingdom. There are several markets in Camden Town, and all of them together are known as Camden Market: Camden Lock Market, Camden Stables Market, Camden Canal Market, Inverness Street Market, and Camden (Buck Street) Market, each with its individual flavour.

The market as we know it today, wasn't always like this. It all began in 1970, when three men approached British Waterways and obtained the rights to lease from them some of the properties. And so they could put in practice their idea of a market. Soon, the area became popular and more stalls were installed. The markets are complemented by shops with products from all around the world. This is a paradise for shoppers.
