Hotel description

Kuala Lumpur's Ritz-Carlton is not all that different from any other; perhaps a bit on the small side (overall, that is — the rooms themselves are the city's largest), perhaps a little more intimate than some others. Then again, maybe it just feels more intimate because the staff are a little bit more attentive, as the Malaysian hospitality successfully combines with the International brand. It may sound cynical, but the price may be one of this particular Ritz-Carlton's strongest assets. Due to the relative value of the Malaysian ringgit, the base rate here offers some of the best value for money anywhere. But despite the bargain-basement price, the hotel is every inch what one would expect from a top-class luxury chain. The style is elegant, neither overtly modern nor antique — again, quite what is to be expected from a Ritz-Carlton. There is, naturally, one restaurant in a regional style and one in a European genre: Li Yen is the Cantonese signature restaurant, and Rossini's is Mediterranean and Asian fusion, more casual. And the service is extraordinary, by any standard — not only is this the sort of place where everybody knows your name, but the all-room butler service means everyone gets a little bit of the VIP treatment.
