Hotel description

If you’re surprised to see something quite so cosmopolitan and sophisticated in Brisbane, don’t feel bad. Limes is the first hotel of its kind in this town, but to be honest it would stand out in Melbourne, in Sydney, or anywhere else. The design, by Alexander Lotersztain, is front and center, from the organic forms of the facade to the eclectic furniture choices and the rich textures of cowhide and raw wood inside.

The neighborhood is Fortitude Valley, or simply “the valley,” and it’s the nightlife and entertainment heart of the city. It’s the ideal location for a hotel that’s equal parts lodging and meeting place — just the rooftop bar, not even mentioning the rooftop cinema, can surely hold at least as many people as the 21 bedrooms.

Those rooms are both visually striking and functionally quite well-equipped — rich dark colors, clean lines, modern fixtures, and comforts like goose-down duvets and L’Occitane bath products. They’re not enormous, but they’re comfortable enough for longish stays, each one with its own kitchenette. A luxury hotel it isn’t, not quite — the social life does tend to take over late in the evening — but for a high-design boutique, it’s more than substantial enough.

How to get there:

Limes Hotel is approximately a 25 minute drive from Brisbane Airport.
