Playa Santa Teresa

150 kilometers from the capital city San Jose, Santa Teresa used to be a tiny village, until it became world famous for having some of the best surfing in the entire country.

This destination rapidly became famous between surfers of all levels. Even though surfing conditions are excellent all year long, the best waves are from May to December. Still, it is important to keep in mind that inexperienced surfers should avoid trying to surf during this period.

If you're not a surfer, you can rent a bicycle and explore some of Costa Rica's pristine beaches, go fishing, snorkeling or kite surfing. There's plenty to chose from.

Accommodation varies from villas to bungalows and there are also special camping areas where you can enjoy a natural experience.
