Matala beach

The beach is about 300 meters long and is surrounded by cliffs, transforming it in to a nice and secluded place. Sun beds and umbrellas can be rented here. Matala is famous for the caves in the cliffs, offering a spectacular view and inviting you to find out the history of the region. In Roman times the caves served as a cemetery, in the 60's they were used by fishermen and hippies and today they are a tourist attraction as an archaeological site.
