Egeskov Castle

( No user reviews )

The castle lies in the middle of a small lake and it was erected in 1554 by Frands Brockenhuus. Because in that time most nobleman's houses were built as fortresses, this castle is no exception. It is made up of two buildings, connected by a one meter thick double wall, with secret staircases.

The castle's gardens are impressive, and they include one of the largest fuchsia gardens in Europe, containing 104 different species. There's also a maze garden, an English garden, a water and a herb garden and many others.
