Feeling the temperature rise as you arrive in the Amazon jungle.

Calling all adrenalin-junkies looking for a brand new challenge. How about riding the heights of the Peruvian Andes on a Honda XR400, stopping at some of the world’s most ancient ruins on the way? Soak in the unbeatable views the fast way, riding mountain roads through the jungle, past lagoons, up peaks and across valleys. And the logistics? You’ll be accompanied by an expert English-speaking guide and a support vehicle all the way. Spot on.

Lima and Cusco: the excitement mounts

meet the locals

If you’ve seen the classic film (which we love), you can picture the awesome scenery and experiences to expect on this once-in-a-lifetime trip. After a day’s practise and familiarisation on your bike (where our experts will help you chose the best model for you), you’ll set off in the direction of Chinchero and the sacred valley. We could spend all day describing the rolling hills, picturesque lagoons and small cobbled towns you’ll pass through, but the best way to discover these is to try it yourself. Watch out for herds of Alpaca as you meander through ancient Incan sites, feel the temperature change as you ascend the mighty Andes, and marvel at jagged rock peaks on the way.

The peaks of Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu

Although your guides will take you off the beaten track (just the way we like it), you will also have the chance to visit the world-famous ancient city of Machu Picchu and it’s spectacular ruins. Staying at the Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel right inside the cloudforest, you will also have the chance to climb nearby peak Putukusi to see the crumbling ruins from another breathtaking vantage point. A Kodak moment if there ever was one.

From bikes to dug-out boats

Lake Titicaca at sunset

Descending into the Peruvian Amazon, humidity increases as the jungle thickens with wildlife on either side of the road. Once you reach the small riverside town of Atalaya you’ll hop in a motorised dug-out canoe and head along the Piñipiñi River to the rustic thirty wooden-beamed rooms with stunning lake views. After all this adrenalin and grit, kayaking the clear waters of the world’s highest navigable lake is the perfect antidote. There couldn’t be a more idyllic way to end this adventure trip of a lifetime.
