Perusing this city's impressive forts and hip underground bars. Heading over for the world-famous Exit festival to party in a crumbling fort. Roaming the palaces and churches of the old quarter. Exploring the Belgrade fortress, barely changed since the 18th Century. Partying the night away in floating barge clubs on the Danube. |
Spend your days exploring the beautiful old town, fortress and orthodox churches of the Kalemegdan area; take in some of the last remnants of the Ottoman Empire, before immersing yourself in the exceptional nightlife. A true party city, Belgrade offers a fantastic restaurant, bar and music scene that is stylish and classy with a modern twist. Take for example the nightspots which float on the boats, barges and rafts lining the Danube and Sava rivers - a far cry from a dingy basement bar in London. And after your explorations, rest your head at the classy Hyatt Regency hotel.
Unlike other eastern European cities such as Budapest (now reaching saturation point on the tourist trail), Belgrade remains a well-kept secret. The Serbian capital offers up a healthy dose of hedonism mixed with some of Europe's best cultural offerings, all untainted by roving stag parties and school groups.
But this is unlikely to be the case for long; as word spreads about this uber cool weekend break destination, we're sure the crowds will start to flock - it's just that good.
