Located on Disko Island, on the west coast of Greenland, this town was founded in 1773 by whaler Svend Sandgreen. Hunting and fishing are still the basic occupations of the inhabitants. Something unique that tourists can do here is ride a dog sledge in the summer time, on the inland ice at a height of around 700 meters (2,300 feet).
