Cervinia is one of Italy's most important resorts and and it is close to the Swiss border, neighboring with Zermatt. One of the highest resorts in the Italian Alps, it is dominated by the Matterhorn and surrounded by some of Europe's grandest peaks.

This was one of the first resorts to be built from scrath in the 1930s. It also remains one of Europe's highest resorts, offering guaranteed snow. Winter sports are practiced even in the summer months, with easy access to Zermatt's glacier. The excellent snow conditions are one of the reasons why Cervinia became so popular.

Being so close to Zermatt, the resort is invaded by tourists who want to benefit by the large ski domain and the slopes in Zermatt, at half the cost.
