Nine miles of beach, many trails through the thick conifer forests of Ecola State Park, just a great place for a delightful one day trip. Because of its proximity to Portland, its a favourite weekend getaway for people living there.

A landmark of Cannon Beach is Haystack Rock, the third largest coastal monolith in the world. It is 235 feet high and is accessible at low tide, especially in the summertime. Near Haystack Rock are two other tall rocks, rising from the water, called the Needles.
