Vidraru lake and the Fagaras Mountains

An artificial lake formed after the construction of Vidraru Dam in 1965, on the Arges River. The lake ha a length of 10.3 kilometers and a maxim width of 2.2 kilometers. The total surface is 893 hectares and the maxim depth id 155 meters.

The construction of the dam took five years, during which 42 kilometers of tunnel were dug, 1.768.000m3 of rock were excavated, 930.000 m3 of concrete were used and and also 80 workers lost their lives during the construction.

The dam is today a favourite place for bungee jumping.
