Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary

( 1 user review )

The Sacred Monkey Forest is visited by approximately 10,000 tourists each month and it's an important tourist attraction in Bali. The forest is home to about 300 monkeys and contains 115 different tree species.

There are also three temples: Pura Dalem Agung, Holy Bathing Temple and Pura Prajapati, presumably built in the 14th century. The largest of all is Pura Dalem Agung and it's situated on the highest point of the forest.

If you're thinking of handing bananas or any type of food to the monkeys, pay attention cause they can get quite aggressive and if they steal something from you, let them have it. If you buy the bananas from the ticket office, those money will be used for the maintenance and conservation of the forest sanctuary.
