Ngorongoro Crater Wildlife Safari

( No user reviews )

General

At over 2,200 meters Ngorongoro Crater is one of the highlights of wildlife adventures, its popularity increasing every year. It is said that the crater has the most concentrated wildlife activity in Africa. The crater is at the center of the Conservation Area and at its margins local tribes are permitted to maintain their traditional lifestyles in their natural environment. The volcanic landscape is rich and fertile and the high altitude creates a malaria-free micro climate.

The interior of the crater is about 265 sq km with sides up to 600m deep, being the world's largest intact caldera in an exceptional geographical position. 20,000 - 30,000 wild animals populate this bowl lined with island, swamps, forests and Lake Makat, a central soda lake filled by the Munge river. The varied habitats offers to the various fauna the perfect environment with the rich volcanic soil, lush forests and spring source lakes on the crater floor. Although free to leave, the animals choose to inhabit this paradise that offers drink and food for both grazers and predators. The endangered Black Rhino can bee most likely seen in the Ngorongoro Crater where a small population is struggling for survival.

The gloriously wild panorama of Tanzania offers a rewarding safari, even if visiting time is limited. The flocks of flamingos, the silent families of giraffes, the noisy packs of wild dogs, the lions, the zebras, the elephants and vultures make the experience of an African safari a one-of-a-kind, regardless the season.
