General

The total surface of the lake is 582 km², from which 234km² in France and 348.4km² in Switzerland. It is mainly fed by the Rhone river, from the Swiss Alps, which also carries its waters into the Mediterranean Sea. The lake is 72.3 km long, 13.8 km wide and over 310 m deep. It's great dimension offers the possibility to practice a vast range of sporting activities.

Along the lake, there are 65 beaches, enough to provide hours of relaxation for everyone. The beaches excel in scenery, one is sunnier than the other and spending one day here is pure relaxation.

The southern shore, at the foot of the Alps, is largely within French territory. Thanks to its mild, almost Mediterranean climate, the Lake Geneva region is known as the “Swiss Riviera”.

The Lake Geneva Region – technically the canton of Vaux – is diverse, with three distinctive areas: the Jura mountains to the west, the relatively level plains of the Mittelland in the centre and the Alps to the east. It has something for everyone.
