This castle has been home to the dukes of Sutherland for more than 800 years. It has a total of 189 rooms which make it the largest house in the northern Highlands. It's design, with pyramidal roof and conical spires, resembles a French chateau.
The castle's gardens were completed in 1850, resembling as design with the famous Gardens of Versailles.
Both the castle and the gardens are open to the public from Easter to the middle of October. Visitors can also admire the Victorian Museum and the amazing Falconry displays in the gardens.
A gift shop and a buffet are also available.
