It all began in 1988, in Vince Hannemann's backyard. He started creating this junk-art structure and added to it ever since, now containing 60 tons of junk. When he is asked what was the purpose of his initiative, he simply answers that he did it because he liked the idea, and it doesn't have any profound meaning.
From illuminated signs to old clocks and all sort of electrical stuff, they are all running, powered by the hidden cables in this organized mess. Not all of the stuff belong to Vince, most of them are from people who bring them here. But still, don't think that whatever you'll bring will end up being a part of the Cathedral of Junk, as Vince is a bit pretentious and admits that there are many things that don't fit in, as his tastes change in time.
This place became so popular that it even hosted weddings, CD debut parties and bachelor parties and it's just a very popular destination.
You can go visit anytime during the day, and if Vince is at home, he'll happily show you around.
